Markel Corp. said it is changing its name to Markel Group Inc. as of Friday.
The company submitted the change to its article of amendment in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday.
The company said in a statement it was making the change “to provide greater definition around the nature of our holding company, which includes three engines of insurance, investments, and a group of diverse businesses in Markel Ventures.”
The statement said Markel has introduced a new website at www.mklgroup.com to coincide with this change and will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the MKL ticker symbol.
